Unlearning fear
Psychologists say as a baby we only have two fears and that’s the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. Some even say it’s a startle response and not even fear itself. All fears are learned. The good thing is, whatever can be learned and can unlearned.
You can overcome the learned fear of being wrong, the fear of failure and of being judged negatively. There are different ways of achieving this. It can be a letting go process that accelerates once you understand that improv is mistake free. Or it can be a mindset/belief shift where you understand that, just like a baby falling over and over when it’s trying to walk, improv is designed for “failure” (learning) and the sooner you realise you’re going to look silly and that’s okay then improv and life gets easier.
