Trust is the antidote to control
Improv teaches you that the only security in life comes from being comfortable in not knowing. It teaches you to give up control and ironically by giving up control, you actually have something more important than control and that is an inner peace, knowing that no matter happens you’ll be alright.
Trust is the antidote to control. The sooner you give up control and trust that everything is there in the moment, the easier improv will be and the better your improv will become.
Have faith that whatever you need will emerge. Stay open and by trusting in the moment, you don’t have to control it. You can’t actually control it. Trying to control the moment is a recipe for pain because it is unattainable. You will simply suffer if you try to control the moment. Let this idea go, detach from the desire to control, be present and you will become one with that moment. In this sense, it is through trust that you become one with the universe and pure potentiality – anything and everything is able to emerge from the moment. Trust in whatever emerges. Know that you will be ok, you’ll know what to do and whatever you do or say is perfect for in that moment.
